Synthetic, absorbable, multifilament braided suture, in a violet color or undyed. Made of polyglycolic acid with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate coating. The tisssue reactivity in microscope form is minimal. Absorption occurs through progressive hydrolytic action, completed between 60 and 90 days. The material retains approximately 70% if its tensile strength by the end of two weeks, and 50% by the third week. Color code: Violet label. Frequently used in tissue coaptation ties and ophthalmic procedures.
